50th Anniversary Celebrations in the Town Hall

Celebrating 50 years of the Cowbridge History Society


The Celebrations will take place in Cowbridge Town Hall on Saturday 16th November 2024

from 10 am to 4:30 pm


10:30 to 11:15  First showing of “Cowbridge on Film” using archival footage.
11:30 to 12:30 GRAHAM LOVELUCK-EDWARDS, author, columnist and broadcaster will talk on “Cowbridge and the Missing Roman Fort”.
12:40 to approx. 1:00 A light-hearted look at the History of Cowbridge by DICK BUSWELL, author, performed by PETER KNAPP and GEOFF GRIST from CADS with a multitude of hats.
2:00 to 3:00 MARTIN JOHNES, Professor of Modern History at Swansea’s School of Culture and Communication, author and broadcaster will talk on “Wales and the Second World War”.
3:00 to 3:20 Launch and sales of new publication Cowbridge and District 1860 to 1930 by E W MILES. 
3:30 to 4:15 Second Showing of “Cowbridge on Film”.


Also all day:

Photographic exhibition of aspects of Cowbridge History over 50 years.
Fun Quiz: “How well do you know Cowbridge?” 
Bookstall: a variety of local history books available including CHS publications.
Refreshments will be available.
